To all intents & purposes, Commodore 128 Alive! is pretty much like a modernised BBS - we have a message area, file area & regular community - the only thing that is really missing is online games.

To that end, I was thinking of adding a few in - but with a caveat, they need to be web conversions of BBS doors. There are a few & I'd start with Legend of the Green Dragon (a descendant if you will of L.O.R.D.).

Would there be interest in this ?

Legend of the Green Dragon was a great BBS game.  I did not know it had been converted to an HTML game.

This does, however, pique my interested in converting Empire to an HTML game.  Do you have a Windows server with IIS 6 installed that you would be willing to run the game on?  I'm not particularly fond of PHP and would code such a game in ASP.Net 2.0.

No - Apache here, I'm not fond of IIS & prefer the stability & features of Apache. I also :hjärta: PHP :)

That being said - Apache does ASP with a module add-on.

If you're willing to run mod-mono and keep your installation of Mono up-to-date we could be onto a winner.

Mmm... can do, will isolate it on a test machine to start with - I'm disinclined to do too much 'test' stuff on the production machines.

Of course,  I'd still prefer PHP in the long run as it's pretty much the de-facto cross platform scripting language. There is a tool that will (mostly) convert ASP to PHP - see http://asp2php.naken.cc/ for details.

Particularly as I'm about to move over to Solaris 10 for the three hosts......

It might move ASP to PHP, but I doubt seriously it'll move ASP.Net to PHP; I just don't see how that would be possible.  Anyways, it's going to be a while before I have much time to work on this, but it's a fun challenge.  I'll probably put it up on CodePlex as an open source project when I make some progress.

The page to the games is here. It's not in the navigation menu yet as it's pretty much all beta/test stuff at this stage, but feel free to break what's there (only LotGD at the mo, but I've gota couple of others to install).

Any issues, report back to this thread.

Ok, two games in there (accessed via the 'games' link on each page) :

Legend of the Green Dragon (based on Legend of the Red Dragon)
Solar Imperium (based on Solar Realms Elite)
