Howdy! I'm after a C128 KeyDOS v2 ROM with 52 page manual.

Tried contacting Randy at http://21st-century.freeservers.com/KeyDOS/keydos-blurb.html but he no longer sells them :(

I've been keeping a look out on eBay for a while without luck.

Aw, that is too bad.  Year after year, I kept putting off the purchase and now to receive this news...  :-(  And Randy confirmed this in an e-mail to you?

Yep, here's the e-mail reply I received.

"Hello,

Thanks for writing.

My advice is to check on eBay, as KeyDOS ROM shows up there from time to
time, usually included with a C128 system.  I have no means of producing
KeyDOS in a timely manner.  Sorry."

Oh well... :(

Wonder if he'd be willing to sell/release the code & rights ?

cheers,

I wonder if that means he has no more eproms for the use of KeyDOS.

According to the following URL, KeyDOS would require a 27C256 EPROM (32K).

Blank 27C256 EPROMs can be found on eBay so it would still be possible to make these. Not sure if it's worth his time and effort though...

Sounds like a plan. No harm in asking.

I was wondering if anyone ever got the answer on this as to whether this has been released or not?  I got a KeyDOS EPROM from Al Jackson, president of the Clark County Commodore Computer Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I've just started "experimenting" with my new "Promenade C1 Clone", and I could try making a dump of it if anyone is interested.  I've got it installed in my 1750 REU, connected to my C128 that already has JiffyDOS and a Servant ROM, plus the 64K VDC upgrade...  JiffyDOS, Servant ROM, and KeyDOS all live together in happy harmony this way.  :)

Well, a couple of months ago, I was in e-mail contact with Randy Winchester.  I emphasized that I'd buy KeyDOS v2 from him, but he replied that he wasn't sure where the docs were, couldn't burn the EPROMs, didn't have any blank EPROMs, and even didn't have the code anymore.  Well, I told him that I could provide him with blank EPROMs and that Al Jackson had the code, which I forwarded to Randy.  Without the documentation, though, Al says that many of the features would be hard to discover.  Randy fatalistically said the docs would only be found if he were to move from his residence, though he talked about buying an EPROM burner.  As for releasing the code, Randy made no mention of that, and after I made a few more inquiries about getting KeyDOS v2 from him, he stopped communicating.  :-(

At the time, I recall sending another e-mail to Randy but he never replied.
Andrew, if it's not too much trouble, I'd love a dump of the EPROM.

Okay... I made a dump of KeyDOS v2.3:

I also made a dump of the JiffyDOS v6.01 ROM that's in one of my 1571's:
http://cottonwood.servebbs.com/1571jd.rom

These are my first two ROM dumps... So if someone could check these and make sure I did it correctly, I'd appreciate it.  Thanks!  :)

Thanks!

The KeyDOS ROM seems to fire up OK when used with VICE.

I've decided to list my KeyDOS V2.3 Function ROM on eBay, so if you don't have the means to burn your own KeyDOS ROM, now is your chance to get one!  This is a 3 day auction with a starting bid of 99ยข:
