Rumour - 128DCR model ?

Way back in time I recall reading that a final run of 128DCR's were produced for the North American market that did not include an internal 1571.

Anyone seen one of these beasts ? Did they really exist & in what numbers ?

And is there a photo available anywhere ?

Doesn't mention it - it may well be vapour-ware, although a quick search using Google turns up a couple of mentions.
