Latest version of CP/M for the 128 ?

Hi there,

Anyone got a pointer to the latest version of CP/M for the C128 ?

And any ideas how to get it onto a 1581 disk if I can only copy the files off of 1541 disks ?  (got an MMC64 and it only handles .d64 images)

The last version of CP/M for the 128 is dated May 1987.  It has built-in support for the 1750 REU as well as the 1581 3.5" floppy drive.

i believe the version was infact 3.0 wasn't it?  i think thats availasble here in the download sectiom...

someone correct me if it's not 3.0

A little confusing, I suppose:  they're all "Version 3.0," but Commodore had at least three different releases.  No fundamental difference between them, it's all the same OS.  Like TomL_12953 said, the 1987 release was just an updated version to support the 1581 and an REU ramdisk.  In the modern lingo it might be thought of as a "Version 3.0, Service Pack 2."

That's correct but fortunately there have been non-official upgrades since -

http://landover.no-ip.com/128/olate/details.php?file=148 - cpmfastfinal.zip is one, it eliminates 40 column mode, adds new functionality & provides a faster BIOS. As well, it's "fixed' for Y2K. Recommend that if you want to seriously run CP/M on the 128 that you get this, the difference in speed & usability is amazing!

The last "official" release was indeed the 27/05/87 version.

Good grief, I had no idea a "hacked" version existed.  Hats off to Mr. Ticmanis - this could not have been a trivial undertaking.

Ah, I have the May 1987 version.  Time to upgrade to this newer version.

Yay!  At last! :-)

I shall get it tonight and see how it goes.

On another question ... do you have an Retro Replays in stock ?  Could do with one of those!

Actually, I told a lie - they were never available on the site because they were supposed to be (planned) on  telnet BBS.

I managed to get the CP/M version of TBBS working on the 128 but never got around to putting the thing online as I had some issues that I haven't yet been able to properly resolve (occasional hangups, transfer issues).

I'll build the pages (there's a LOT of stuff).
