Do you like the new forum software ?

Yes

What new software ?

Blacklord

SMF is now running on the site.

A couple of things:

When you first log in to the new software all messages will appear as new. The first time you do a "mark all topics as read" will take a little while.

Internal links to old forum postings are broken.

If you encounter any problems, post to this thread, if you can't post contact me by email at landover (at) tpg.com.au

I strongly recommend you modify your profile.

Enjoy the new features :)

cheers,

Lance

Wow, it's so... w-i-d-e. (without a sidebar) :)

Looks good, though!

Any way you can import PMs? I have a couple with information I should have saved offline but didn't.

No - but I can retrieve 'em from the old database.

Whoa. It is going to take some time to adjust to the change.

Hi Lance

Perhaps you can fix the internal links by running a search & replace on the appropriate column in the database?

Just a thought.

MySQL yes.

You reckon you can do it ?

Yeh, shouldnt be a problem - gimme 15 minutes to find the database schema documentation and write a query to test my theory (without updating the database first)

Would be good to hit it now before people have posted much more, unless you can easily backup and restore (just in case).

Just checking a thread elsewhere by someone else with the same problem - might be easily solvable.

it would just be a case of extracting the relevant links from the old database (ie, in the old format), translating them into identifying keys for the old database (ie, which record in the "posts" tables do they point at), translate identifying information (maybe the subject?) to find the records in smf_messages, grab the keys and rewrite the URL :D

Nothing really :D

EDIT: Come to think of it, if you had both the old and new tables in the same database, it would really be quite trivial. Since the tables would have different prefixes, you could do that quite easily, at least temporarily

Not too bad.. Will take some getting used to, but all in all, I think its pretty nice.  I do like the fact that you can now add attachments to posts.  Maybe consider kicking it up just a bit more than 128k though?  Maybe the size of a D81 image?

<--Do we really need horoscopes? The text on them is all mushed up, anyway. Except for mine, which is short.

Also, there are two email icons over there.

I'm not seeing those. I am seeing two broken image links. :(

Ah, now we finally have proof that the Pisce8 Elf species exists! Never expected them to look like cats... no wonder they've been so elusive! :D

I think the new software is much nicer than the old personally.

Can I smite him for that opinion? I really, really want to use the 'smite' link, but I'm afraid of setting off a 'Smite War'. :)

I think I will need some time to acclimate.

P.S. We are missing some of the smilies from the old board, didn't we? Also the new smilies do have a broad edge.

I may have to read the documentation. I was worried it would come to this.

The <MARQUEE> tag lives!
Oh, the horror! :o

Andrew Wiskow

On the old system, I had it set with a very dark theme with a black background.  There doesn't seem to be any way to do this now, unless I'm missing something?

Also...  No more country flags?  I thought that was a nice addition.  :)
