OK, it's not totally Commodore related, but I visited a new scrapyard in Detroit. If you're familiar with the area, it's at Livernois and Warren near Mexicantown, called Parts Galore. I was there to get some goodies for an '85 Camaro Iroc-Z that I own. 1985 was the first year for the Iroc-Z Camaro, and a good year for Commodore as well. They were riding on the success of the C-64 and rolling out the C128. Chevrolet was trying to capitalize on the success of the International Race Of Champions Series. In 1986, I went to an Iroc race with my father at Mid-Ohio(road course). At that race, I met Bobby Rahal. He didn't win the race(Al Unser Jr. did), but he went on to win Indy and the Cart Championship!
I got a pretty solid door (driver's side, mine had cancer and a nast dent by the mirror) and some misc. stuff. I like the "U Pick" places the best, it's cool to check out the cars, much like checking out Commodores. The engine is rebuilt and I rebuilt the transmission myself, soon I'llbe working on the body.
