Great news indeed BDD. All the best to you and good luck with the new treatment!

Great news! I hope this goop does the job for you.

BTW, are you experiencing any pain from the neuropathy? If so, ask about Neurontin. It was developed for narcolepsy, but it does a great job suppressing my neuropathic pain.

Put some effort into getting better. We need you at 100%, big guy.

Get back to playing that bass BDD.

Golan Klinger

This is good news. I hope you end up being the guy they put in the ads to show how well the drug worked. We're all pulling for you!
Call me Golan; my parents did.

BigDumbDinosaur

Thanks for all the encouraging words.  I'm looking forward to this in a perverse sort of way, as it may save this old dinosaur from untimely extinction, as well as contribute scientific knowledge that may help others with ITP.

I am scheduled to start in the clinical trials in two weeks, provided I don't get any sicker than I am right now.  It should be an interesting experience, to say the least, as I've never been part of a study to find a cure for something.  My joining the trials adds an unknown to the process, as they have not had any middle-aged male patients on which to test—few men develop ITP once out of their twenties, and it's almost unheard-of in men my age (I'm 63).

If I can believe what I've been told, the worst that will probably happen is nothing...I won't respond to the drug and thus will be no better off than I am now.  However, what I have learned is that they've had a nearly 70 percent success rate with refractory ITP patients. with some patients achieving near-normal counts.  Most stayed substantially below normal but well away from the 10K/microliter danger zone.  I've been there numerous times, including several instances below 3K, which but for the luck of the Irish, could have been my demise.  If my count can be kept at or above 50K I'll throw a party!  If it can't and I kick the bucket, my wife will throw the party as soon as possible after the funeral is over and the life insurance check arrives in the mail.  <Grin>  Just kidding!
x86?  We ain't got no x86.  We don't need no stinking x86!

Hang in there, BDD. You know we're all pulling for you.

Edit: Shucks. Golan already said that. :(

Nope - there's been posts & visits all day.

Anyone knows what happened to the ftp at "ftp://landover.no-ip.com/"? It was a great source!

Off temporarily while I add in more stuff & replace the FTP server with a better one (one that uses the forum user permissions - I had an enormous amount of hot-linking happening with the anonymous access).

cheers,

Lance

I, too, have been having problems getting here in the last few days.  I would just give up, wait several hours, and then try again.

Interesting...  For some reason, for the past couple days, I haven't been able to get on here at all from my computer at work.  I get some sort of error like "unable to connect to the WWW server".  Every other site I've accessed on the Internet works fine.  But from home, where I'm at now, it seems to be connecting fine.  Any idea what could be causing this?

What's your IP address at work ? I've recently blocked a large chunk of IP addresses that Apache's logs showed were slamming the web server for no good reason ('fluff' requests one after the other several times a second).

Yours may have got caught up .

cheers,

Lance

Ah... That might explain it.  I'll let you know what the IP address is there when I'm there tonight...  Or, when I get home from work in the morning, since I probably won't be able to log in from there.  ;)

No worries :) (Damn, my plan was foiled <evil laugh>)

Waiting impatiently for the ftp then...  ;)

The files found in the download area at "Commodore128.org" such as the BASIC8 ROM-file (http://landover.no-ip.com/128/olate/uploads/upload-1149703303-Basic8.BIN) together with all other files I've tried to download can not be found (404 - Webpage not found). Have the files been moved somewhere else?

That's them.

The classic computer FTP site will be re-available {soonish}.

As soon as I finish building the stand-alone box for it that is.

I'll be in Denver for about an hour on Jan 3 if anyone's about :)
