For some peculiar reason, I've got this idea stuck in my head that I need to upgrade one of my 1571s with both JiffyDOS AND a RAMBoard. Does anyone know for sure if they're compatible? (Whether I actually have the time and money to do so is a separate issue.)

Hmm, I've never thought of it.  I should pull the JiffyDOS out of one of my 1571s and put it into the one that has the RAMBoard 1571.  I'm going to be gone this weekend and won't be able to check up on it until Monday or Tuesday.

So, Robert...  Have you had a chance to try this out yet?

Jiffy has no problem with this additionally 8KB RAM. But it don't use it. Without "special" software you have no need for a RAMboard.

Actually, I want to eventually use a 1541 as a co-processor, so the extra RAM from a RAMBoard and the faster transfer speed from JiffyDOS would both be a good thing. But the best thing would be a custom 1541 ROM with fixed CBM routines and fast JiffyDOS routines, plus some support routines for programming purposes. Kernal-like stuff.

I have so many ideas, but so little time.

If anyone has a spare set of JiffyDOS ROMs for the C64 and 1541 that they'd like to get rid of, please send me a PM.

Switchable would be nice, but not a necessity.

(I'm in the U.S.)

Thanks!
