Just found this forum site this morning and decided to come aboard. I have a couple of C64s and two C128Ds with their 1541 and 1571 drives, ect. Did a lot of Basic programming way back in the mid '80s as well as some store bought programs. I'm glad to see that the ol' Commodores are still around and very much alive! Hope also to pick of few of you guys brains in getting back into the system. Around '96 I started using Windows 95 for the business I worked for, so the Com went into a long hiatus...but up and running now.

Hi, and welcome. I never had a 128D but I think I'd prefer the original 128. My 128 got demoted from my main computer around 96-97 when I embarked on the windows adventure also. It's still here though, sitting beside me, ready for action. My oldest boy has taken to firing it up from time to time. Sadly I don't think my Slikstik is long for this world though. :(

Welcome!  Pick away at our minds!  I don't mind and I think others feel the same... we love sharing info on these things.  Interesting that you both stoped using your Commie around '96.  Thinking back that about describes me.  It seems like I was computerless between '95 and '99.  Then around '02, I found VICE emulator.  Then last year I got a real 128 again, thanks to Lance and this site of his.  Its great you still have your original(s) and they're alive and kicking!

Speaking of Windblows, I always liked the instant-on feature of the Commies as opposed to the slow startup of Windows.  But now with XP and VISTA, I have a new reason to love my Commie: instant-off.  Lord knows why a PC takes a minute to shut down when you haven't created anything...

:-)  Many 8-bit computers have instant on and off.  And Amigas still have instant off.
