Hello, everyone. I'm new to these forums, and to the commodore systems, and I could used some help.

Recently, I found what I think was a good deal on ebay.

2 Vic 20 computers, no cables
1 Commodore 64 computer no cables
1 Commodore 128 computer no cables

all for 45 bucks, with shipping. Seems like a decent deal for 4 computers. This is especially good, since I actually happen to have the floppy drive (my grandfather bought it by accident, and offered it to me).

The only problem I have is that I don't have any power cables for them, and I have no idea how to make cables. The ebay dealio said that they were all working, but he didn't want to sell the chords.  I have a lot of RF switches, so unless they are somehow different, I think i can just steal the switch from my NES.

Now I need your help. I would like to get my 128 up first, and I need some power. I have seen a lot of pinups to make them online, and would be happy to make them myself, if I had any idea on how to do that. Maybe if someone could send me a link to a video explaining how. I would also be willing to buy a cable at a reasonable price via Paypal (ebay wants 30 bucks if you include shipping, which seems really high).

Thank you all in advance for your support

Well, if you don't want to build a power supply (plus attached cables), our club has an extra C128 p.s. for $5 plus shipping.
I'm packing for Southern California and will be in the Anaheim area tomorrow, but if you can wait, I get to the storage house and pull out the p.s. on January 18.

Robert, you DO have everything, even though that would encompass the entire universe ;)

C65? Those are beyond the universe by now :)

Sometimes there are people selling old PET machines here in Sweden on the couple of domestic sites we have for that. Should I let you know if I see one? Must cost a fortune to ship to the US though :) Or the Philippines for that matter :D

I would love that power supply for $5 plus shipping. I live down in Orlando, and my email is thomasgebert@gmail.com.

I am going to assume you use paypal...

I am also available on AIM at tombert256 and skype name "eevilcheese" (note the two e's in front)

I want to thank you profusely for selling them. :-)

Yes, thanks for that.  Who knows?  I might even travel there to pick it up (just like the AmigaOne G4 I picked up in England last year).

O.K., when I pick it up, I'll be able to weigh the package and tell you the shipping costs.

You are most welcome to come and visit Sweden :)

Just for the fun of it, I searched the swedish version of ebay (tradera.com) for Commodore stuff and found a 1551. Do you have one of those? Even though the 1551 can't be used with a C64 or a C128 it's still a nice item for a collection since it's pretty rare.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Commodore reportedly planned an interface to allow use of the 1551 with the C64, but it was never released.
Do you know if anyone else ever made such an interface?

Oh, I got a fun fact.
My commodore 128 is the flat model. I am not sure if that matters, but I figured it could be important.

If you have an external powersupply it has to be a flat C128 since the desktop-like version (C128D) has an internal powersupply :)

sounds good to me. I'm anxious to play with my c128.

Robert, the cheapest way to ship a C128 power supply is in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.  It's $10.35 to anywhere in the U.S.

Postal Service quoted me $9.80 in a Priority Mail flat rate box.  Add the $5 for the p.s..  Total = $14.80.

Where did you get that quote?  The current price for the regular flat rate boxes is $10.35.  Or it's $9.85 if you purchase your postage online.  I still prefer to do business "the old fashioned way" at the post office, though...  ;)

Not that it's a big different in price...  I'm just curious as to where you got $9.80 from.

Uh, I walked into the post office yesterday with the p.s. package and talked to the postal lady behind the counter.

Andrew Wiskow knows better than the post office!  I went back to the post office today in order to mail a 1351 mouse, and the same postal lady admitted she made a mistake on the Priority Mail flat box rate for a C128 p.s..  As of Monday, the rate had gone up to $10.35, up from the older $9.80 price.
Hence, the price of the p.s. plus shipping is now $15.35.

hehehe...  their prices are going up so often, even the people who work at the post office can't keep up!  ;)

I just go to usps.com and click on "calculate postage" to find out what the current rate is.
