Rather than continuing to talk about the March meeting in the thread for the February meeting, I thought I'd go ahead and start a new thread for March.  :)

Robert, are there any planned topics for this meeting?

More testing on the uIEC and SD2IEC (bring any SD cards with you).  If the Megabit 128 ROM adapters get here in time, then we'll be installing and trying those out.

I have a 1570 on its way to me from Europe.  If it gets here in time, and if I have time beforehand to get Charles to help me switch out the transformer from a 1541 (essentially converting it from 220V to 110V), I'll bring it with me to show off.  :)

I sent them priority mail, should get them Wednesday or Thursday.

Woo-hoo!  The ROM adapter package was sitting at my front door today.  More to show off at the FCUG meeting (and this Sunday's SCCAN meeting).

Nice!  I still haven't converted my 1551 to North American voltage yet.

(official announcement)

Happy Springtime, everybody!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, March 15, at

             The Pizza Pit
2701 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
             Fresno, California

This month we'll be trying out Jim Brain's uIEC and NKCElectronics.com SD2IEC card drives for the Commodore and Dan Newbury's Megabit 128 ROM adapter for the C128 specifically.
Andrew Wiskow and perhaps Charles Gutman of 8-Bit Designs will be coming up from Southern California, and Andrew might be showing off a rare 1570 disk drive.

Bring your extra SD cards for testing out the card drives,

Charles won't be able to make it to the meeting, but I will be there.  I got the 1570 in the mail from Germany today, and I just got back home from Charles' house, where he helped me convert it to 110V power, so I will be bringing it along with me to "show off".  :)

BTW, Robert...  I told him that you have a 1551 that needs to be converted to 110V power, and he said he can definately help you out with that.  If you have a dead 1541 that has a good transformer, he can remove the transformer from the 1541 and install it in the 1551.  That's exactly what he did with my 1570.  So anyway, if you'd like, I could pick up your 1551 and a dead 1541 from you at the FCUG meeting, deliver it to Charles, he could perform the "surgery", and I could get it back to you at CommVEx.

Thanks for the offer.  However, I gave the 1551 to Ray Carlsen on Monday when I visited him.  I dropped off two flat C128s to fix and picked up a repaired 1571 and 1581.  Ray had never seen a 1551 before and will study it.  He also is borrowing the 1551 User Manual to study.
Ray will convert the 1551 to 120 volts, and I will pick it up in June.

Yeah, sure, just make me jealous that you've been spending way more time in my home town than I've been able to.  :P
