On 1/31/09, I won a bid to a C128 plus 1571 drive for about $101 with shipping from seller cldrnbrn13.  Thinking of getting back to the world of Commodore 8 bits just to relive my youthful time.  Unfortunately it didn't happen.  After more than a month, I still did not receive the system and multiple email did not get reply.  I have just filed a dispute with Paypal and try to get my money back.  Hopefully it will resolve quickly but just a beware for everybody who buy parts from eBay for their Commodore system to stay away from buyer if he place the system for sale in the future.  Honesty, I don't mind the wait but not replying email about inquiry on the shipment is just wrong.

Thanks and sorry for the rant.

I've been using eBay over the past 10 years as both a buyer and a seller, and the vast majority of my experiences have been positive.  Unfortunately, there are a few people who, whether intentionally or unintentionally, just can't figure it out.

Thanks for posting this warning.  I'll definately be sure to steer clear of this seller.

BTW, if you're after a Commodore computer and disk drive, you can get them much cheaper from Robert Bernardo, president of the Fresno Commodore User Group (FCUG).

You're welcome.  ;)

Seriously, though...  There's no reason why anyone should be buying a C128 and 1571 for over $100 when you're selling them for $10 each.

The power of advertising.  Everybody's heard of eBay, and few know about FCUG.

Yes, I can.  In the past, I've shipped to England, Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.

Do you ship to Mexico Robert ?

Are you thinking of staying in Mexico?

No - but it'd be cheaper to have it shipped to Mexico than Australia & I can take it back in my luggage.

Well, today I finally got a reply from the seller saying after moving to a new place, he has no electricity, no internet so couldn't check email...  and say he will ship it tomorrow plus extra games as bonus.  Well, I was going to file a refund request through paypal tomorrow but will now hold a few days before doing so.  Honesty, unless the person lives in a remote area and don't have cell phone, he could have access his cellphone to check on his email (especially if his email is from comcast.net).  I also read his previous feedback and while almost everybody gave him high mark for transactions, the transit times are usually pretty long.

Either way, just be an extra caution if you do see future Commodore product from this person.

Thanks and if this doesn't work out, will check with FCUG.  :)

Well, just a note, the seller did returned the whole amount so the dispute is now close.  On the other hand, now I'm in the market a Commodore 8bit system and a disk drive.  Do you have a listing of what you're selling?  Let me know if you do.

Thanks.

Robert's list of Commodore items is something like "if you need it, he probably has it".  You'd be better off just letting him know what you need, and he'll tell you how much it'll cost.  :)

Remember that one time when somebody mentioned an item that was really, really obscure and Robert said "I don't have that"?

Ah, good times.
