Developer Josef Soucek has announced that IDE64 V4.1 is once again available for ordering.  Go to  http://news.ide64.org  to read up on the latest news for this well-supported device.

The IDE64 cartridge is a device for connecting an IDE hard disk drive and CD-ROM drive to a C64, and/or it can be used with a CompactFlash card. It is plugged into the Expansion Port and connected to the hard drive by means of a 40-wire cable. IDE hard drive transfer rate is more than 100 times the rate of the floppy drive 1541.  The IDE cartridge contains a 128kB ROM (EPROM or flash EPROM with IDE DOS, Machine Code Monitor, File Manager and Setup), a 28kB RAM (used for internal buffers), a real-time clock chip (powered by a battery), two LEDs (to indicate the presence of the cartridge and HDD activity), a Short-BUS for new peripherals, Amiga Clock Port, mini-USB Device Port (PCLink), and an ispLSI chip.  Its price is 99 Euros including shipping.

Ahhhh .. I can see a bit of my bonus money heading towards an IDE64!  wonder if it will share nicely with the 1541U ?

We never thought about that at the last SCCAN meeting!  Josh S. had brought his 1541U, and I had brought my IDE64 v4.1.  Oh, well, we can try out the combination at the next February SCCAN meeting.

There a fantastic piece of kit :)
I'm running c64web from one with a rrnet connected for a few weeks to check stability. :)

So far so good.

P.S i found the online store and service second to none.
c64web.com runs from a unmodified commodore 64

My IDE64 came relatively fast from the Czech Republic (and it even came in a Cisco box).  ;)
