Looking for good disc-copy software

I'm transferring my floppy discs to D64's using MMC Replay. Unfortunately MMC Replay can only create D64's and not D71's from floppies. So I have to find a way to split one 1571-formatted disc into two 1541 formatted discs before using MMC Replay to transfer them to D64's. Does anyone know if there is a program to automatically do that?

If not, I quess I have to manually copy file after file from the 1571-disc until the first 1541-disc is full and then continue copying to disc two. But then I need a program that is able to copy PRG,DEL,REL and SEQ files. Does anyone know of a good program to do that? None of the discs are copy protected.

With XA-1541 and OpenCBM or with XS-1541 you can directly read 1571 diskettes into a D71 file on PC.

As long as nothing is copy protected, the most reliable program I use to copy all file types is FCOPY on the CMD HD utilities disk.  It'll be pretty time consuming if you're talking about a lot of disks though.  You may be better off getting a setup that you can create D71 files with, like Diddl suggested.  Personally, I use an XE1541 cable and Star Commander on an old DOS box.  Works great for creating D64s, D71s, and D81s.

Most of my discs are 1541 formatted, just a few are 1571 formatted so time consuming is ok, since there are just a few discs. And none of them are copy protected.

Is FCOPY a C128 program or for the C64? My setup is a C128D with a 1541 hooked to it. Is FCOPY able to read files from a 1571 formatted disc in the 1571 in the C128D and write them to the 1541?

If so, do you know where I can get my hands on it?

I'm going to beat Andrew to the punch this time.    FCOPY and FCOPY+ are compatible with both the C128 and C64, i.e., run in both modes.

When I use Pokefinder I get 66 hits. Any idea which version is the highest? And which one that is the best to use?

The one with the highest version number?    Seriously, I'd have to look at my FCOPY disk to see what version it is.

I don't have them in front of me right now, but IIRC, FCOPY+ was a bit more compatible.  FWIW, Maurice Randall's WCopy was better than CMD's FCOPY/FCOPY+, because it used JiffyDOS routines in JD machines in order to speed up file-copying greatly.

Robert, the Pokefinder hits are not the CMD FCOPY program... Looks like a German program made for the VC-1541.  I did some hunting, and you can find FCOPY in this compilation of CMD utility disks:

Heh, a better search is with the words, "CMD FCOPY".  That gives

From there, you can find the CMD Utilities disk which definitely has FCOPY+ and another CMD Utilities disk which has WCopy+ (the improved version of WCopy).

I downloaded that compilation and then used WCOPY+ and it worked like a charm. A great software for copying discs!
