New RAMLink arrived, PSU - how to do reduction from 1541-II PSU?

Hi!

Today arrived my RAMLink.

I had ready 1541-II PSU for it. Problem is connector.
It's too small. How to power supply RAMLink or which reduction to do from standard 1541-II PSU connector to RAMLink power connector?

In attachment are pictures which can help to recognize type of power port and serial number. I know that were manufactured 3 versions of RAMLink, so maybe serial helps to identify. I added also photo of connectors inside RAMLink.

A 1541-II PSU will only work with a RAMLink v1; you have a RAMLink v2.

Heh, well, not exactly the wall power supply I was thinking of, but it should work.

3 - 4,5 - 6 - 7,5 - 9 - 12 V

You need 9 volts.

max. 1000 mA (I found also 1,5A - damages it RAMLink?)

You need a minimum of 1000 mA (1 amp).  1500 mA (1.5 amps) will not hurt the RL.

connectors (mm): 0,75 x 2,4 - 1 x 3 - 1,4 x 3,5 - 1,7 x 4 - 2,1 x 5 - 2,5 x 5,5 - 3 x 6,3 - Jack 2,5 - Jack 3,5

One of those connectors should work.  Center is positive.

Also, which battery for RAMLink V2?

I thought someone answered this for you on this forum or on another forum.

I powered my RL unintentionally more than a year with 12 V instead of 9 V It doesn't kill the unit (but I do not recommend to do that).

1 A works. 1.5 A works better (If you want to load the batterie quickly).

One of my RL batteries (big accu unit) is a Panasonic LCR6V10BP

This is getting confusing.  I am not going to talk about the RAMDrive; I'm going to talk about the RAMLink... the topic of this discussion.
     The RAMLink battery is a lead-acid, sealed, rechargeable, 6 volt battery.  The size of the battery is approximately 6 inches x 3 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches (15.24 centimeters x 8.89 centimeters x 3.81 centimeters).  The original battery was rated at 6.5 amp-hours; that is the minimum amount of storage capacity.  You can get a higher-rated battery like I did; mine is rated at 7 amp-hours.  Go to a well-stocked battery shop or battery store.  Buy the battery there.  In the U.S. I paid about $15 for one.  The non-standard connector is just a 1/8-inch mini-plug; positive is center.

You mixed up the threads!
MeH versus NiCd relates ONLY to the RAMDrive (with internal accus) not to the RAMLink (external lead battery).

But I have RL-DOS 2.0 and I'm awaiting new RAMCard (now I have 5MB) with RTC and 16MB.

I found some connectors on European websites.


There are described as 1/8 inch connectors as equal to 3,5 mm jack.


Can I use mono 3,5 mm jack? and positive give to signal and negative to GND... ??? ?
Also can it damage my RAMLink if will be polarity not correct?


(the plug in 3,5 mm stereo jack stereo was on picture, it's larger than 3,175 mm - 1/8")

As with most DC circuits, yes.  Sometimes you're lucky and there's a diode present to keep you from pushing current the wrong way and blowing itself up if you overpower it so you just replace the diode and that's it.




Now on to another thing, I have two of these lovely creatures, neither of them with a RTC.  I'm curious if anyone has one they can snap some pics of top and bottom as I'd like to see if it can be recreated.
