Back in the day when EVERYONE had a C64... Commodore released the C128 and was working on the Amiga. It seemed to me as a teenager, that the C128 and Amiga were trying to compete for the same "turf" (which is untrue). However, I felt the Amiga was more business oriented, and for some reason (probably because of the 3 modes) the C128 was too advanced for some C64 users to upgrade. I got my first C128 last year, and of course I haven't scratched the surface of its capabilities. I guess I had blinders on back in the day and didn't want to upgrade to the C128, my loss. My feeling is that other C64 users thought the same thing. Sure you got backwards compatibility, but the support for 128 mode wasn't there.

I got the C128 as soon as it came out (and when it was at a sale price).  I soon "upgraded" to a C128DCR.  I never felt that it was a wrong move.

I got my first Amiga back in 1995... quite late to do so.  However, for a few years before that, I collected many Amiga magazines, like CU Amiga, and drooled over the machines that were priced above my means.  Now I have plenty of Amigas.

Hi Andrew,

Good to see your keen on the C128. Got the programmers reference info?

My C128 I have had since 1986 & is still crankin' today. There is a second unit but bought only as a spare should the original go 'puff' one day.

Keep an eye out for a Memory expander - handy to have & compliments the C128 well.
Yet to knock out something decent on the machine yet but even after 22 years of using the machine, I still learn stuff whenever I have a session.  :)
