MIRKOSOFT

Hi!

I'm awaiting package of CMD HD without HDD.
That's not problem.

I have ready for it SCSI 9GB HDD, SCSI CDRW, SCSI DVDR and for PC SCSI controller and all cables.

I know not lot of SCSI drives, but I have long SCSI cable which seems that it has also Master&Slave connectors like IDE.
But I'm not sure.

So, I want to ask:

Is possible to give SCSI HDD into CMD HD and as Slave connect CDRW or DVDR?
Will be CD/DVD drive accessible?
Has really SCSI Master&Slave like IDE?

Many thanks for every reply.

HD-DOS will only see 4 gigs of that 9 gig mechanism.

I don't know about the DVD drive, but you should be able to read the CD drive with the programs, CD-ROM Commander 64 (freely available) or CD-ROM Commander 128 (commercially available, last I heard).

Thank you Robert!

I know the limit of HDD size. The Q is other: before I connect HDD to CMD HD, must be formatted?
If, what a filesystem? (this is stupid Q, CMD supports Nat/PART etc, but to be  sure)

Can you tell me where is possible to buy CDROM Commander 128? I have CDROM Commander 64...

Many many thanks.

The new hard drive mechanism will be unusable until it is formatted with HD-DOS.  In other words, it has to use the CMD file system.

Dale Sidebottom, distributor of the CD-ROM Commander 128, has virtually disappeared from the C= scene.  He is notoriously bad in answering e-mails, but I can give you his phone number (in private), if you wish.

Hi Robert!

Many many thanks for your patience.

Phone number helps me not, you're from USA, yes? And I'm from Europe, Slovakia, so, one call can be more expensive than software....

If you can do for me anything look in PM.

Hi!

So, I want to ask else one Q:

I have SCSI cable with connectors for more than one unit.
If I connect as one unit SCSI HDD and 2nd unit SCSI CDRW, wil be then accessible both devices from CMD HD?

Many thanks for every reply.

I don't know.  I've never seen anyone try to connect two external units to a CMD hard drive and access both of them.  (But I can ask around...)

Hmm, the number I have for Dale is ringing some other family.  I will try e-mail, and if that fails, I will try and contact him through one of his friends.

As expected, he is not answering his messages.

O.K., I can't find contact info for Roger Lawhorn, Dale's son-in-law, and so, that leaves me with his friend, Steve Grassman.  Steve is 3 hours ahead of me here in California and so, I must call before 6 p.m..  He's my last shot to get in contact with Dale and any news of CD-ROM Commander 128 (and the Laser Lovers Disk for the Commodore).
