Hey guys, Im in need of a bootable 1581 CPM disk.  1581Copy and Omniflop will make D81 images, and they work just fine with anything else including GEOS disks from 1581 images, but I cant get CPM working.  The images work fine under VICE, but when I use Omniflop or 1581copy, the will boot up on the 128, then I get a message stating either DISK IO ERR, or CPM+.SYS not found, etc.  Ive tried different disks, anything i can think of.

Is there anyone here in the states that might have a disk theyd be wiling to send me?  Or any other ideas on how I can write a bootable 1581 CPM disk that works?

Hmm I don't have one...but perhaps some of my links in my posts here might be of help, two of them have bootable disk downloads (images) which should mean a direct copy should make a bootable floppyu

Hmm. I guess you've tried a couple different disks to make sure it's nothing wrong with the media? If you can sacrifice one of your disks which worked before, you could write over it and see if that makes a difference.

Oh, and the disks you're writing to are DD, right, not HD? While I think the 1581 will often read HD disks when formatted to DD, I've always read that they can be less reliable than using proper DD disks. It could be that whichever way CP/M is organized happens to aggravate that reduced reliability factor. If you are using the right disks, though, I don't know why there'd be a problem.

I have one .. I got the .D81 and used my MMC64 to write it to a real 1581 ... get a blank to me and I can make you one .. or you can take the 1571 CPM disks and make a bootable 1581 instructions are actually on the CPM disks themselves I think.

I think you may be right. The best I could find was a HD, which I covered the hole. Maybe thats just too much for the 81 to deal with when writing weird disks like a CPM D81 disk.  Strandedinnz just offered to make me one, but let me see if I can find a DD first to avoid bothering anyone.
