Hi,

I have taken the old release of GUI4CBM4WIN (v0.4; the VB6 version) and have spun off a separate program called CBMXfer. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here, but I don't have VB.NET (and I find it too hard to use). So, as to not confuse things by having both a VB6 release and a VB.NET release I'm renaming mine to CBMXfer. A much easier name to remember ;-)

Also, I've added support for IEEE drives using CBMLINK, and manipulating disk images using the C1541 program from VICE. I've added the ability to copy files to/from inside D64 images, and view CBM BASIC PRG files (auto detects all versions). I hope everyone likes it. I have released the first BETA release of CBMXfer and you can download it from my website at:

If you can help by testing it that would be great. Of course, suggestions, and feedback is welcome!

I am currently adding a few new features, such as viewing character ROMS and SEQ files. I'm also considering adding an ML disassembler.

Perhaps that's shorthand for

Quote from: Steve Gray posting on torontocbmHi All,

I just wanted to let everyone know I have released the first BETA of my new
program called CBMXfer.

It's based on Leif's GUI4CBM4WIN with additional support for serial connections
using CBMLink, and Disk Image file functions using the C1541 program from VICE.
I also wrote a CBM BASIC lister to view PRG files from all CBM models. You can
transfer individual files from inside Disk Images and copy between different
sources and destinations and more.

I'm looking for people to test and comment on it, especially if you use CBMLink
(for IEEE drives).

You can download the program from my web site:

I hope you like it!

Hi,

something weird happened while I was composing and it ended up submitting.... DOH.

Yes, thanks for the plug. I guess I could have cut and pasted my other post elsewhere.

Just discovered this post. I'll dload it and try it out. Sounds like a VERY useful front-end.

BTW, I hope you added some way to send direct commands to the drive, not just the preprogrammed ones. Now I have to load up the command-line version to send a "u0>m1" command to force my 1571 back into 71 mode after a d64 write. Otherwise, formating will give me a 41 disk, not a 71 disk. I would also like to use "U0>m0" then "u0>h1" so I can format and use the backside for another d64 image.

And does anyone understand why on God's green earth you need to first format a disk before you can write a d64 image to it??? That makes absolutely no sense to me.

The D64 support in OpenCBM does not require you to format the disk first.  Neither does GUI4CBM4WIN.

Then why does GUI4CBM4WIN always puke whenever I try to feed it an unformatted disk for a d64 transfer? I always have to format them first?!?!?!

I never noticed this behavior before.  I dug out an unformatted disk and sure, enough it failed.  So, I added some code to ask if you want to format the disk before writing the D64.  You can get the latest version of GUI4CBM4WIN from http://www.paytonbyrd.com
