I was looking through the downloads on the C128 Alive website for an HTML viewer.  I couldn't find one.  Does anybody know of an HTML viewer for the 128?  Please not C64 or CP/M mode.  Thanks in advance!

I think the Wave is the only one.  It requires a SuperCPU if you have one.

I would think a VDC web browser would be the best one available.  I wonder if that browser being made for the C64 is open source.  If so, start converting it!

Isn't there a 128 version of the Contiki OS? If so, that should come with a web browser. Try searching for Contiki128 or Contiki C128. Hey, it isn't CP/M. :)

Otherwise you could look into porting the Singular browser.

The 128 version of Contiki doesn't have a GUI last I checked.  It used the pseudo-gui of the text type and I believe some of the apps don't run in that environment.  I could be wrong. :)

Ah, that's too bad.

I was thinking that a good albeit "impure" approach to HTML viewing would be to convert it for display before giving it to the 8-bit machine. It shouldn't be unreasonable to set up a proxy that handles conversion to a more manageable display-ready format. Although it'd be neat to do all the processing on the Commodore, I'd think that having fast display and interaction would be much nicer.

Thanks again guys.  I don't have a SuperCPU and probably wouldn't get one even if I could afford one (which I can't).   The Singular browser looks promising since it's open source it should be pretty easy to port to the 128.  Not that I plan on doing that anytime soon.

I'm not entirely sure if you need to port it to C128, on the compile page (http://singularcrew.hu/browser/compile.php) you can pick C128 and the two different VDC sizes mention "Video output on VDC".

I'd test, but my C128 setup is boxed up and the C64 is taking up the available space. :ängel:

Thanks a million minutes!

I'm not even going to ask why you're using a C64.  All I can say is tsk, tsk, tsk :)

On second thought, I can say,

:D WELCOME :D

And hope you decide to swap.
