I've just watched the pilot of the new Flash Gordon series ... how could they manage to make such a horrible horrible job of it ?!?!?!  They've just killed Flash Gordon for the current generation :-(

To sum up:

1) BBBAAAAAAAADDDDD acting
2) BBBAAAAAAAADDDDD script
3) BBBAAAAAAAADDDDD "special effects"

Oh dear .. now I'm unhappy :-(

The 80's movie had the perfect amount of cheese to pull it off .. this new series has nothing .. it's just bad.
At least they didn;t get rights to use the theme tune by Queen .. that would have ruined two things!

I stayed with the pilot for the first half, and then I couldn't take it any longer. Afterward I went and watched the whole Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe series to cleanse my soul. Thank goodness for Archive.org.

Likewise, after being such a fan of the original Battlestar Galactica, I couldn't stomach the new one. Probably the only revived show I've ever gotten into is the new Who, as it's always been the very nature of the series to keep changing. But then again, I have to admit that I find the "making of" stuff on Doctor Who Confidential more interesting than Who itself. I probably wouldn't follow the show otherwise, though there have been a few excellent episodes.
