We are pleased to announce the Commodore 128 Sound Competition 2006!

Commodore 128 Sound Competition 2006 is a friendly competition designed to see what artistic creativity exists in the C128 community :D

C128 SID Hardware

    * three separately programmable independent audio oscillators (8 octave range, approximately 16 - 4000 Hz)
    * four different waveforms per audio oscillator (sawtooth, triangle, pulse, noise)
    * one multi mode filter featuring (low-pass, high-pass and band-pass outputs with 6 dB/oct (bandpass) or 12 dB/octave (lowpass/highpass) rolloff. The       different filter-modes are sometimes combined to produce additional timbres, for instance a notch-reject filter.
    * three attack/decay/sustain/release (ADSR) volume controls, one for each audio oscillator.
    * three ring modulators.
    * oscillator sync for each audio oscillator.
    * two 8-bit A/D converters (typically used for game control paddles)
    * external audio input (for sound mixing with external signal sources)
    * random number/modulation generator

- You can use any player/composer you like (including BASIC 7.0 sound commands), but the result must be playable on a real 128 or emulator (ie - no MP3's!)

Can I enter a sound demonstration that uses both the stock
C128 SID and a SYMPHONY catridge SID?  The sounds that I want
to use are rudimentary but I want to implement them in stereo.

One of the sounds I stumbled on was by accident.  I think it originally
started out as a GONG sound that signaled a task complete in a COMPUTE! GAZETTE copy program.  I made some changes to the SID parameters
and accidently stumpled on to something that is IMHO quite extraordinary. I don't have the slightest idea how or why the silly thing works.

Does that mean there will be other comps ?

Yup - once this one finishes, we'll move on to a different category - I'll put it to the vote at the time so members can decide what they'd like to see next.

Are the results in?  Where can I read / see / hear the submissions, if any?
